Configure Bluetooth Settings For The I Phone on a 2016 Mazda CX-5
Here's a quick look at pairing your iPhone to your Mazda's communications system.
Wake up your Mazda's Communication System
No need to start the engine. To turn on power to the accessories, simply press the Ignition Start button WITHOUT pressing your foot on the brake pedal. You'll turn the accessory power off again the same way.
Next, get your iPhone ready for the pairing dance:
Select "Settings"
Turn Bluetooth On
Select "Bluetooth"
Note: If there's a second iPhone or other Bluetooth device lurking around inside your Mazda, now would be a good time to turn off it's Bluetooth in order to avoid an awkward contention for dance partners.
Now to prepare your Mazda for the pairing dance:
Using the Big Knob on your center console, dial to the "Communication" icon on the display and select it by pressing the center button on the Big Knob.
Now Mazda will start looking for a dance partner [but she's not going to wait all night, she'll only wait for 180 seconds].
For his part, iPhone will now inquisitively display "Mazda" (?) and wait for you to select her on your phone for the pairing.
When Mazda finds an iPhone with sufficient appearance and wealth, she'll ask you to confirm the prospective partner's pairing code. Say "Yes" to begin the dance. Note that your iPhone may ask you to confirm the number too [understandably, neither wants to be paired with the wrong partner!]
Bang-Bang On the Door Baby!
And so the dance ends.
Recall that you can turn off power to the accessories by pressing your Ignition Start Button again sans foot on the brake.
Enjoy your hands-free calls, and always drive safe!
