Clean The Maf Sensor on a 2004-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX
Quick and easy cleaning instructions for the Mass Air Flow sensor on your 2004-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX and STI cars.
Regular cleaning of the Mass Air Flow sensor should be considered regular maintenance. This sensor can get dirty, and dramatically effect how your car runs and idles. I'd suggest cleaning the sensor with every air filter change.
Many consider it advisable to replace the MAF every 100k miles.
- MAF safe cleaning spray
- Optional: Replacement O-Ring 28mm ID, 32mm OD, 2mm Width
- Optional: MAF Sensor: Subaru 22680AA310, Denso 197-6040
Preparation
Clean the sensor with MAF sensor cleaning spray.
Be careful not to touch or damage the metering wires inside the unit.
It may not be useful, but I always clean the temperature sensor at the same time.
Clean the sensor and intake tubing where the meet. There's always a build up of sand and grime, and we don't want that to interfere with the seal.
