Replace The High Beam Headlight Bulbs on a 2012-2017 Toyota Avalon

This article is visible to only you.

Learn how to replace high beam headlight bulbs on a 2012+ Toyota Avalon. This howto includes all the correct tools and the part numbers you need.

Our Avalon has led driving lights, so those require special tools and parts, but the high beams use regular bulbs that are relatively easy to change.

Open the Hood

1

Pop open the hood release.

2

Open the hood and locate the areas to access the headlight bulbs.

3

Locate the bulb to replace.

Remove the Burnt Out Bulb

4

Disconnect the wire harness by unclipping the connector.

5

Remove the bulb.

Rotate it counter clock wise (when you're looking at the back of it). It'll turn about 45 degrees.

Then pull it out of the headlight housing.

Install the New Bulb

6

Insert the new bulb.

Be careful not to touch the bulb glass. The oils from your skin can cause them to burn out prematurely.

Final Test

8

Turn on the lights to test your new bulb. If the new bulb is a drastically different color or brightness, you may wish to replace the other side the same time.
